Free allergy plan

Organise allergy medicines, a written action plan and arrangements with school or childcare. Follow your child's prescribed emergency plan. If anaphylaxis is suspected, give adrenaline straight away as directed and call emergency services.

Medicines

• Allergy medicines as prescribed
• Carry two prescribed adrenaline auto-injectors
• Check expiry dates
• Medical ID bracelet

The plan

• Get a written allergy action plan
• Share it with family
• Know the signs of anaphylaxis
• Practise with a trainer auto-injector
• Know when to call emergency services
• Agree who carries emergency medicines

At school

• Give the school the plan
• Arrange emergency medicines with the school
• Check staff know the plan
• Plan for school trips
• Tell clubs and childminders

Eating out

• Check menus before you go
• Tell staff about the allergy
• Pack safe snacks

At home

• Read every food label
• Keep safe foods separate
• Teach your child to check food is safe
