Organising a child's asthma medicines and a written plan for home and school. Follow your child's prescribed action plan, and get emergency help if symptoms are severe or don't improve with their reliever.

Medicines

• Prescribed reliever inhaler
• Preventer inhaler if prescribed
• Spacer if prescribed
• Check expiry dates

The plan

• Get a written asthma action plan
• Learn the warning signs of an asthma attack
• Go through the action plan with the nurse
• Check inhaler technique with the nurse

At school and clubs

• Give the school the plan
• Give the school a prescribed inhaler and spacer
• Tell clubs, coaches and childminders
• Pack the inhaler for trips

Reviews

• Book the yearly asthma review
• Ask about the flu vaccine
• Write down known triggers
