Free lost or stolen phone

What to do straight away if a phone is lost or stolen, so your accounts and money stay safe. Use another trusted device, and never confront anyone or go somewhere unfamiliar to get a tracked phone back.

First steps

• Locate it with Find My or Find My Device
• Mark it as lost or lock it remotely
• Erase it remotely if needed

The sim and number

• Call your network to block the SIM and phone
• Order a replacement SIM or eSIM
• Ask about using your old number

Accounts

• Change your email password
• Secure banking and payment apps
• Remove the phone from your accounts
• Tell your bank if banking apps were on it
• Check accounts for unusual activity
• Review trusted devices and recovery settings

Reporting

• Report it to the police if stolen
• Get a crime or reference number
• Tell your insurer
• Find the phone's IMEI number

Replacing it

• Restore from your last backup
• Set up two-step verification on the new phone
