Privacy and security
How Petal Home handles your information
A plain-English summary. The full legal detail is in our privacy policy.
Who can see what
- Plans, lists, reminders, bills, countdowns and household info can be Household (everyone in your household) or Private (just you). In the app, private items are visible only to you, not even to admins. Groceries, meals and recipes are always shared.
- An admin decides what each child can see and change, area by area.
- Households are invitation-only, and an admin accepts every new member.
- Nothing in your household is public, unless you choose to share your calendar with a link (below).
Connected calendars
- When you connect a calendar, it goes into your Private space. An admin can choose to bring it into the household instead.
- We never see your Google, Microsoft or Apple password. We keep a sign-in token, stored encrypted.
- Meeting details, including the names of the people invited, come from your own connected Google or Outlook calendar. A meeting's guests are shown only to the person who added it to Petal Home, and to anyone else in your household who is also invited.
- Calendar information is used to provide the calendar features you choose to use. It is not used to develop, train or improve artificial intelligence.
- Anyone who has a shared calendar link can view the calendar that link gives access to. There are two links: one for your private events and one for the household's shared events. You can make a new link or turn it off at any time.
Your account and your data
- No adverts. We never sell your information or share it for advertising.
- Passwords are stored as secure hashes, not as readable passwords. Information is encrypted while it travels between your device and Petal Home.
- We use a small number of providers to run Petal Home; every one is named in the privacy policy.
- You can delete your account from Settings, then Account, then Delete account. What gets deleted.
On this website
We use simple first-party analytics to understand which pages are visited and how the website is used. There are no advertising trackers. Our analytics keep a random identifier in your browser, and the privacy policy explains exactly what is recorded.
